My name is John Kershner '20, and I am a senior Mechanical Engineering major from Reading, PA. As a first-time Road Crew member, I was really excited to start our trip with a fun-filled week in Manhattan. Kimberly Nicolich '14 is Manager of Corporate Communications at Macy's in New York, New York and has been with the company since 2017.
Our visit to Macy's was great as we got to hear from not only Kimberly but two other professionals doing very interesting things. Kimberly shared her experience at both York College and Macy's with us, and we got to hear about her day-to-day life working for one of the largest department stores in America. As a manager in Corporate Communications, she is in charge of communicating with the thousands of stores when new policies are implemented across the organization. We also got to hear from Roberson Keffer, a Fashion Vice President for the company. It was amazing to hear about his experiences traveling around the world and learning about trends.
At York College, Kimberly was involved with the Women’s Lacrosse team, where she played with her twin sister. She recounted her experience during a playoff game in which she had to miss commencement, but was able to graduate a few days beforehand with her teammates in a small ceremony. Something she mentioned that really resonated with me is to know that whatever job you take right after college doesn’t have to be your career and that you don’t need to have everything figured out. Thank you, Kimberly, for providing us with many different insights into what it’s like to work for such a great company!
