PA Office of State Inspector General
Hi everyone, my name is Marissa Boyles '22 and I am a sophomore from Brick, New Jersey. I am majoring in accounting with a minor in criminalistics. This is my first year on Road Crew and it has been amazing so far!
Road Crew had the opportunity to meet with Danielle Vespaziani '15 who works in the Bureau of Special Investigations for the Pennsylvania Office of State Inspector General. Danielle was extremely involved when she went to York College before graduating in 2015 with a degree in Criminal Justice with minors in Legal Studies and Spanish. While at YCP, she was the Vice President of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, a member of the Criminal Justice Honor Society, a member of Order of Omega, and an Orientation Leader.
Danielle explained her role as a special investigator, describing the research, interviewing, and writing that goes into her day-to-day duties. Some challenges she faces are being confident, especially when interviewing someone who is older and more experienced. She loves the fact that York College is a small school and still keeps in contact with professors to this day. Danielle also stressed the importance of writing in every profession and encouraged us to continue enhancing our writing skills after college.
Our visit with Danielle was extremely interesting, especially for someone like me who is considering working in fraud investigations when I graduate. Hearing from Danielle and her two coworkers, one of which works in welfare fraud investigations, was an awesome experience for me personally. I was grateful to have the opportunity to visit Danielle and would not have had this opportunity without SpartaNation!
