SpartaNation 2020 | Day Five Site Visits

Meet Our Site Visit Hosts

Samantha Buck '15
Client Services Manager, NBC Universal
Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications

What does it mean to you to have York College students coming to your place of work for a special site visit?
I am excited to give the YCP students a glimpse of a real workplace. My work environment is fast-paced but we keep it light and fun. I hope to show them that what they are learning at York College certainly prepares them for the real world.

How has York College helped you get to where you are today?
The WVYC radio station and broadcast performance courses taught me how to react in stressful situations as well as a fast-paced moving environment.

What advice do you have for current students or fellow alumni seeking a career in your chosen field?
Never say, “no!” Take every opportunity that comes your way. Work late nights and weekends and even holidays. It will all pay off in the end. Managers will remember you as the person who always says, “yes,” and is proactive.

Bachelor of Arts in Speech/Communications

What does it mean to you to have York College students coming to your place of work for a special site visit?
It’s rewarding. It’s an opportunity to show the potential that an individual with a YCP degree can have.

How has York College helped you get to where you are today?
The small-sized classes and campus helped to shape me. I feel that I am more of a “people person” because of it.

What do you enjoy most about your current professional role?
Every day is exciting and different. My work is seen by a lot of people in this country, and it is my work that people look to and view as a way to be entertained and relax from daily life stress.
