Boys and Girls Club Metropolitan Baltimore
Hi, my name is Jasmin Layne '21 and I am a junior accounting major at York College. SpartaNation provided the YCP Road Crew with the opportunity to visit Jeff Breslin '05, President and CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Baltimore. We had the opportunity to view one of the four locations that he is in charge of and learn more about how the organization runs. The Boys and Girls Club is an organization that provides after school opportunities for children and teenagers.
Jeff started as a sports management major at YCP and had a passion for sport and service and wanted to help other people. He reminded us that our journey is different from everyone else’s and that you should follow three things for short term goals: passion, pursuit, and progress. Think about what you are passionate about, something you want to pursue, and something you want to make progress on. This was an important takeaway for me because it helps me put my goals into perspective a little easier.
Being from Baltimore, it was really nice to see the impact Jeff has on the city by running the Boys and Girls Club. They strive to be a safe place for youth and are attempting to increase the number of teenagers they have that come to the club. They have trained individuals that help the children in various ways as well as volunteers that help out with tutoring and interacting with the children. One day I hope to be able to help out the city as Jeff Breslin does.
