Humanities Film Series

The annual Humanities Film Series at York College is an interdisciplinary program sponsored by the English and Humanities Department and the Office of Academic Affairs. Its aim is to promote the humanities on campus and in the surrounding community by fostering a serious and ongoing discussion about cinema. 

The Film Series consists of six events scheduled throughout the academic year that are free and open to the entire college and the surrounding community. At each of these events, a guest speaker screens a film or delivers a lecture on cinema, and then leads a discussion. Guest speakers include acclaimed directors, writers, producers and actors. as well as noted authors, critics and professors. 

Rocky III
April 27 at 7 p.m.
Dr. Jonathan Kraszewski, a Professor of Visual and Sound Media at Seton Hall University argues that Rocky III (1982), is more sophisticated than it appears at first glance. He will offer an introduction to the film and answer questions about it after the screening.
