Purpose
To enhance education of chemistry students at York College in a way that:
- Brings an industry perspective to the planning and conduct of a Bachelor of Science degree program in Chemistry at York College
- Establishes collaborations between industry representatives and academic leaders to integrate practicum learning experiences into the chemistry curriculum and to facilitate participation in the provision of such learning opportunities by the Council's member firms
- Involves students in beneficial college-industry collaborative research programs
- Leverages industry input and support into the Chemistry Program's strategic planning process
- Teaches student interns industry standards, practices, ethics and conduct such as safety, the product development cycle, marketing, community outreach, environmental responsibility and professional behavior
So that the chemistry students can most effectively contribute to industry when they graduate
