The Spartan: The York College Newspaper
The Spartan is a campus newspaper written and published entirely by students. The office is located on the lower level of the Student Union. The Spartan was established as a source of information, a student forum and as an opportunity to provide students with experience in journalism, advertising and business management. Any student interested in news writing, entertainment writing, production, advertising sales, proofreading, layout (computer or manual) or word processing is encouraged to join the staff of The Spartan at York. The newspaper has multiple features including organizational news, entertainment, editorials and College news. It is a successful and professional newspaper that informs as well as entertains.
WVYC: The York College Radio Station
WVYC FM88.1 is located on the upper level of the Student Union. The FM station is a 10 watt, noncommercial educational facility operated completely by students of the College and under the guidance of the Department of Communication and the Arts. The station is on air seven days a week while school is in session—thus providing news, sports, education and a variety of music for the College and the York community. It also serves as a key training facility for York College Communication majors.
AIGA: Graphic Arts & Design
Alpha Chi is a national college honor society whose purpose is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those achieving such distinction. At York College, only the top five percent of the junior class and the top 10 percent of the senior class are admitted to membership.
American Criminal Justice Association
The American Criminal Justice Association is designed to foster a greater understanding of the field of criminal justice. It provides a forum for students of criminal justice in all matters of professional concern to them in or out of the department.
The goals of the Biology club are to explore new areas within biology, provide peer support, and foster a social network among students by organizing field trips, talks and other projects. Members participate in community and College services. Some of these activities include tutoring and charitable fundraising. Participation is welcomed to all students interested in any aspect of biological science.

The German Club is committed to making the culture and language of the German-speaking world accessible, meaningful and enjoyable to the York College community and the wider community. The German Club accomplishes its mission by meeting to set goals and a program of activities for each semester.
HISPO: History and International Studies Professional Organization
H.I.S.P.O. is an organization devoted to the exploration of career opportunities for students in the fields of History, Political Science, and International Studies. H.I.S.P.O. arranges public lectures by professionals in the related fields (professors, authors and museum curators); holds "roundtable" discussions on current controversies; and participates in field trips to museums, archives and conferences. H.I.S.P.O. also provides members with the opportunity to gain work experience in their prospective fields through the Daughters of the American Revolution, the York Historical Society, and other such organizations in the York County area.
NAfME (National Association for Music Educators)
National Association for Music Educators is an organization dedicated to the support and advancement of music in K-12 schools. It is specifically geared towards Music Education majors, but NAfME welcomes members from ANY discipline area. The members of NAfME also have the opportunity to enjoy NAfME collegiate membership, to share its responsibilities, and to increase interest, knowledge and productivity in all areas of Music Education.
The Pre-Medical Society is an organization open to any students interested in the medical field. It provides a template for peer support, course guidance and application preparation, offering opportunities for involvement in medically oriented activities, fundraisers and educational experiences. The Pre-Law Society is open to all majors. It is dedicated to creating a support system for those students who are interested in a career in the legal field. Members learn about choosing a law-school, taking the LSAT and more. The Pre-Law Society provides a link between law school hopefuls and the advisors who can assist them in getting there. It is a great way to pursue independent studies and internships within the legal field.
PRSSA: Public Relations Student Society of America
The Psychology Club of York College and its members shall respect the dignity and worth of the individual and strive for the preservation and protection of fundamental human rights. The members shall be committed to increasing knowledge of human behavior and of people's understanding of themselves and others, and to the utilization of such knowledge for the promotion of human rights.
SEA: Student Education Association
S.E.A. is open to all students interested in learning more about public education. Membership requirements include speakers, community service and group events.
SNAP: Student Nurses Association of PA
Membership in this pre-professional organization is open to any student pursuing the nursing degree. It is a constituent of the National Student Nurses Association and the Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania. S.N.A.P. endeavors to promote nursing professionalism through its many health-promoting activities, awareness of health-related issues, and interaction with the nursing program, including peers, faculty, and curriculum.
Sport Management Student Association
The SMSA is for any sport management major or sport-minded individual. We hold sports-related fundraisers throughout the year to enhance our experiences and to provide students with guest speakers and field trips. We have monthly meetings and are always looking for new members!
The purpose of the Anime club is to expose the student population to Japanese Animation. To create an open atmosphere to exchange ideas and knowledge in regard to aspects of Anime as well as Japanese culture; To hold marathons and meetings to watch and discuss anime together as a group; To involve the members in field trips to Anime conventions and other aspects of Japanese culture in addition to gaining a broader scope on widely attended events surrounding Japanese culture.
The mission of Best Buddies Colleges is to provide an opportunity for college students to be matched in a one-to-one friendship with individuals who have intellectual disabilities through communication and social gatherings. Social experiences and relationships are a part of life; unfortunately, individuals with intellectual disabilities have historically been excluded from many of the social opportunities that most people enjoy.
Without friends and family, we are alone. In the past, individuals with intellectual disabilities have not had the opportunity to have friends outside of their own environment. By becoming a College Buddy, volunteers offer a Buddy the chance to explore a new way of life. By becoming a College Buddy, you will not only befriend someone with a developmental disability, but you will also learn about yourself in the process.
Colleges Against Cancer
Colleges Against Cancer is an organization dedicated to spreading awareness/prevention to the college campus about the dangers of cancer. We hope to spread the word and help raise money to find a cure to the devastating illnesses. Through the organization, students are actively involved with York College's annual Relay for Life event, which is held in the spring, along with various fundraisers and other events. The organization is a great way to get involved with not only the campus but the community as well!
Working as a liaison between commuters and other organizations on campus, the Commuter Club welcomes all students to the active community York College offers. Our main goal is to get all students involved with something new once they become part of the campus. Through a series of organizational conferences, fundraisers, and campus events, the York College Commuter Club plans to help all students better their futures.
York College Conservative Forum
The York College of Pennsylvania CollegeConservative Forum club is committed to ensuring that all students hear and understand timeless conservative ideas related to the principles of strong national defense, free markets, smaller government, freedom, patriotism, and traditional values. We accomplish our mission by providing speakers, debates, rallies, active campaigning, and other events that work toward an intellectual balance on campus.
York College Dance Team
The York College Dance Team is made up of a group of students who love to dance and show dedication to the team. Our hard work and enthusiasm is seen when we perform at almost every home basketball game, Spartapalooza, and other charitable events throughout the academic school year.
The purpose of the team is to promote different styles of dance within the school and the surrounding community. These styles include, but are not limited to, Hip-Hop, Pop, Street, and Latin Dance. The team will also promote a healthy lifestyle and maintain a positive standing within the campus and community.
YCP Film Society
The purpose of this organization is to promote intellegience and culture through watching classic, modern, or foreign films weekly.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer organization that helps to build homes with families in need. The group has workdays and organizes other social events. No experience is necessary, and all are invited to join in our quest to better all communities. Habitat’s latest trip was to Mississippi to aid homes that were lost in destruction.
YCP Improv Troupe
YCP Improv encourages shenanigans of all sorts; whether it's silly walks, ridiculous scenes, or even wacky props, YCP Improv never fails to be fun! If you would like to learn the basic elements of improvisational theatre in a relaxed and open atmosphere, feel free to check us out. We love new members of all experience levels, and meet on Friday afternoons in the upstairs lobby of the Humanities (WPAC) building.
YCP for Liberty
The mission of the YCP for Liberty Club is to educate and foster discussion regarding government and Individual Liberty in the college community. We also participate in community activities that further the cause of freedom and Libertarianism.
Peer Support Network (PSN)
This group seeks to provide its members with the skills to identify, to reach out, and help peers in distress. The focus is not to provide counseling, but to act as a source of encouragement and assist in connecting peers to resources on and/or off campus as needed. Members also participate in outreach programs on campus that promote health and wellness.
Rhapsody is a student-run a cappella group that is open to all students regardless of major. Look for audition information during the first week of each semester.
SAA: Student Alumni Association
The Student Alumni Association (SAA) will develop a means of interaction and serve as a liaison among students, alumni, faculty, and the community. SAA will be involved with York College events/traditions which include Fall Fest, Spring Alumni Weekend, New Student Receptions, Success After College, Graduation, Move-in weekend, and other alumni events throughout the school year.
Do you want to "Change the World"? Enactus Teams change the world every day. Students from all majors are invited to join the award-winning York College Enactus team in service projects and community outreach. These activities are part of Enactus' mission to help people achieve their dreams through free enterprise education. Enactus is the world's preeminent university-based free enterprise organization. It is a global nonprofit that provides leadership training; regional, national and international competitions; and career opportunity fairs for thousands of college students. Enactus is a prominent organization on campus and one that will put your talents to work on projects that can "change the world."
Ski and Outdoor Club
The YCP Ski and Outdoor Club is run by the students for the students and is now the largest non-Greek organization on campus. The Ski and Outdoor Club seeks adventurous individuals who enjoy skiing and outdoor activities. There is no admission fee to join, only your love for the outdoors. Special events are planned throughout the year; many where discount rates are offered. Come out to meet new friends and experience some wild adventures.
YES (York Environmental Society)
YES is a student organization committed to the defense of the earth, especially in regards to the ecosystems of the local and regional communities. We go about this by first determining to change our own lifestyles and second by acting upon those things that require change on the YCP campus. Branching out from there involves networking and participation with other area colleges and universities and an increase of the knowledge of regional natural systems such as the Susquehanna watershed and Chesapeake Bay. Environmental education is the key.
Hispanic Cultural Society
The Hispanic Cultural Society is a group organized to provide unity and leadership to students interested in stimulating and educating other students about the Hispanic culture. The organization is open to all students.
Lambda: LGBS Alliance
Lambda works to provide the student body with a positive, supportive organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals. Lambda is a social club for all students regardless of sexual orientation. Lambda also serves as a confidential support group for students who are questioning their sexual orientation. Through activities and events, Lambda hopes to make York College and the community more tolerant and accepting.
The Unity Club is a service group organized to provide unity and leadership to students who are interested in stimulating and educating other students and the community on topics concerning minorities. The organization is open to all students.
Christian Fellowship Organization
This national organization offers spiritual, social, and community activities for YCP's Jewish students. Hillel allows students from different backgrounds in Judaism to come together as a positive force for themselves, the College, and the community.
Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship
In response to God's love, grace, and truth: The purpose of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship/U.S.A. is to establish and advance at colleges and universities witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord; growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world.
The Newman Club is a national religious organization which fosters and promotes the welfare of all College students, faculty, and administrators. The Newman Club is a unique social organization which supports Catholic Campus Ministry by sponsoring socials after Mass, organizing a retreat every semester, and providing service to the community. Students are encouraged to come together to pray, to socialize, and to celebrate the gift of life.
Club Softball (Women's)
The club meets weekly with lessons that teach about horses and competition in a professional setting. The organization competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 3, Region 1. It is a very intense and competitive sport with a dedicated team and coach at York College.
(Ultimate) Frisbee Club
All students interested in frisbee are welcome to join the York College Frisbee Club to promote physical exercise through a productive yet enjoyable frisbee game.
The York College Men's Rugby Club is the rugby team at York College. Since it's inception, almost 25 years ago, the club has been dedicated to forwarding the sport of rugby football at the college. YCP Men's Rugby is an organization that not only supports the recreation of the sport, but also the legacy of the sport. The club invites players from all skill levels to attend, as most people are not aware of the specifics of rugby, everyone has a place with the team.
Rugby is a sport that can be comparable to football and soccer. It is a lot of fun, and most girls who come out have never played before so we all learn together. The sport has a whole community most do not realize; it really is a lifestyle. Rugby is becoming more and more popular and has recently been voted back into the Olympics. The club team here at York has had very successful seasons, making it to playoffs virtually every year. The club has really developed over the years and looks forward to continual improvement and more players.
Phi Sigma Pi National Co-Ed Fraternity
