To begin the transfer process, please complete the admission application and submit the required materials to the Admissions Office. Once you have been accepted by the Admissions Office, your transcripts are sent to Bill Benton, the assistant registrar for Transfer Articulation, to be evaluated in the Registrar"s Office. An official credit evaluation report will automatically be mailed to you in the following weeks. Please view the Transfer Policies below for an explanation of which credits aren't accepted at YCP.
York College is continually pursuing articulation agreements for specific programs, for example Business Administration with Harrisburg Area Community College, to make your transition to YCP as smooth as possible. Students who have completed courses at other regionally accredited colleges are welcome to apply to receive transfer credit at York College. In accordance with AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers) guidelines, transfer credits will be awarded to provide advanced standing to transfer students for courses in which a 2.0 ("C") or higher grade is earned, and which are comparable and appropriate to the academic programs and general education requirements of York College. Colleges may vary in the number of transfer courses that are applied to satisfy degree requirements. More specific information is available in the College Catalog.Transfer students must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. The Nursing and Elementary Education majors require a higher grade point average. A maximum of 75 credits will be accepted in transfer from two-year colleges. Transfer students admitted to the College with an associate's degree from another institution must satisfy all York College general education requirements not completed as transfer credit. Students must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours in residence at York College to be eligible for a degree.
York College awards credit but no quality points for transfer work. Transfer grades are not computed into the cumulative grade point average except in the calculation of graduation honors.
Transfer credit will be awarded for courses where the student has earned at least a 2.0 ("C") or higher grade. Grades of "D", "F", "W", "Inc", "Au" or "In Progress" will not transfer. Continuing education units (CEU's) will not transfer.
Technical courses will not transfer to York College. Examples include agriculture, electronics, drafting, dental hygiene, hotel management, paralegal, EMT, etc.
Remedial courses do not transfer. Typically they are numbered from 000 to 099 and include English, math, reading, and study skills courses.
Freshmen orientation or seminar courses from other institutions will not transfer to York College.
Students transferring with a Bachelor's degree from another institution will not receive a course-by-course evaluation. Students should contact the academic department of their major for determination of courses needed to complete their degree at York College.
If the Advanced Placement and/or CLEP credits are listed on another college's transcript for credit, we require an official copy of the score reports for York College to evaluate.
The World Education Services must evaluate credentials from foreign universities. Forms are available in the Admissions Office.
Classes transferring as electives (1XX, 2XX, 3XX, 4XX) may transfer as specific courses. Please see the appropriate academic department for further information if you believe that it is equivalent to a York College course.

An Off Campus Study Approval Form must be completed prior to the beginning of off-campus coursesto be assured that academic credit will be awarded by York College.
It is necessary for the student to provide the Academic Advisor and the Registrar with course descriptions to determine the appropriate York College course equivalencies. The course descriptions are usually found in college catalogs.
PERMISSION IS NOT GRANTED FOR OFF-CAMPUS REPEATS OF COURSES TAKEN AT YORK COLLEGE.
Credits earned with a 'C' or better may be transferred back to York College. Grades earned in courses at other institutions do not transfer to York College. Therefore, only credits completed at York College are computed in the student's grade point average and can be used to raise prior 'D' or 'F' grades.
Students are reminded that they must complete the last thirty (30) credit hours of their program at York College to be eligible for graduation.
Students who desire to take courses at another institution must secure prior approval from the appropriate Graduate Program Coordinator. Official graduate transcripts from another institution must be submitted. Transfer credits will be evaluated by the appropriate Graduate Program Committee. Only courses where a grade of 'B' or better is earned will be eligible for transfer. Transfer credits will carry no grades or quality points; thus, these credits will not be used in calculating the student's grade point average.
Master of Business Administration - Students in the MBA Program may transfer no more than twelve (12) credits of 510-level or above coursework into the program. Transfer credits will be added to the York College transcript after a student has successfully completed twelve (12) 510-level or above credits at York College.
Master of Science in Nursing - Typically, matriculated students may transfer six (6) credits of 500-level or above coursework into the program. Transfer credits will be added to the York College transcript after a student has successfully completed twelve (12) 500-level or above credits at York College.
It is the responsibility of the student to have the college or university named on this form send an official transcript of the work pursued to the Records Office, York College of Pennsylvania, York, PA 17403-3651.
