Invitations:
Individual invitations to the New Student Day are usually mailed out to students in the middle of March. A registration form is enclosed which needs to be completed and mailed back to the Registrar's Office one week prior to the program. We need to know the student's major, minor, areas of interests, transfer credits, AP or CLEP credits, if they will be an athlete, foreign language preference and time preference so that we can provide them with an appropriate schedule of classes. A self-addressed envelope is included for your convenience. The admissions deposit also needs to be paid in advance (see item No. 1 on the Admissions Acceptance Agreement). Deposits are accepted on a space availability basis.

All new students who have been admitted between September and the end of April for the fall semester are invited to the New Student Day programs. If students attend one of the two programs, they will receive their individual schedule in the mail approximately one to two weeks after the program was held.
Students who cannot attend a New Student Day program should complete the registration form and check the "Schedule By Mail" option and return the form to the Registrar's Office. An individual schedule will be prepared and mailed to the home address. If you have been admitted after May 1, you should also follow this procedure.
All transfer and readmitted students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a professional staff member in the Registrar's Office to register for classes. We suggest this approach so that we can review all the transfer credits and or York College credits and explain to you how they will apply to your particular major. Transferring from a different college or starting again at York College can be complicated and we want to help you make that transition as smooth as possible. If this is not possible, you should complete the registration form and send it to the Registrar's Office so that we can prepare a Schedule By Mail for you.
All of the academic departments have given the Registrar's Office guidelines as to a typical freshman schedule for the majors within their departments. The Registrar's Office prepares the individual student schedules according to these guidelines. The typical freshman schedule is between 14 to 16 credit hours for the fall semester.
Students Admitted for the Spring Semester:
Spring admits should follow the guidelines above for the Schedule By Mail option for new students and the appointment option for transfer and readmitted students.
