Part-Time After School Assistant for Lower School available at York Country Day School beginning August 25, 2015, and ending at the close of the school year. Hours are Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., during academic sessions only. Hourly rate based on experience. Responsibilities include assisting program director with after school care for students ages 3 through 6 years old. Patience, reliability, flexibility, enthusiasm and experience working with elementary-age children are a must. High School diploma and experience working with elementary-age children required. York Country Day School is an affiliate of York College of Pennsylvania, and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools. Part Time Library Media Specialist

 

York Country Day School has an opportunity for a Part-Time Library Media Specialist for the 2015-2016 school year. The Library Media Specialist is in charge of the daily operation of the Lower School Library. The Library Media Specialist maintains the library collection and works with faculty and students, incorporating library skills into classroom curriculum and projects. 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

 Provide formal instruction in library, media, and technology skills, as well as informal   assistance to students and staff in locating and using library materials.

 Plan and teach lessons on children’s literature, information resources, search techniques and research methods, both general and in specific subject areas.

 Be responsible for daily management of library media center routines, evaluation and selection of library media materials, ordering, circulation control, etc.

 Be responsible for collection development and maintenance of the Lower School library.

 Work with faculty to identify links with curricular content, learning outcomes, student information needs, and information resources.

 Carry out all aspects of collection development and maintenance: evaluate and order new titles to meet the needs of curriculum and the community, cataloging and processing.

 Administer the integrated library system.  This includes setting policies, circulation control, catalog set-up, report generation, and patron maintenance.

   

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s preferred; cExperience working with Preschool – 5 grade students in an educational setting; and familiarity with Follett Destiny.
