Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Institutional Effectiveness, York College of Pennsylvania

York College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Institutional Effectiveness. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs and serves as a member of the Academic Affairs administrative team along with the Registrar, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Director of Institutional Research, Director of General Education, Director of Schmidt Library, and Department Chairs.  While the Associate Dean partners with the Dean of Academic Affairs (Chief Academic Officer) to provide support and leadership in all areas of the Academic Affairs division, the Associate Dean takes primary leadership in data-driven academic planning, development, and institutional assessment.  

The Associate Dean will lead the College’s work toward continuous improvement of key institutional effectiveness outcomes including:

•Helping the College to become more data-informed by building a culture of evidence-based decision-making;

•Educating stakeholders on ways to formulate reliable and valid measures to test the effectiveness of their division, department, or program;

•Communicating to all stakeholders the findings of our institutional research, and helping them to analyze and make prudent decisions based on that data;

•Providing resources and data for College accreditations, and for individual program assessments and reviews;

•Consolidating and coordinating data collection and management at the College toward increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of College operations within all divisions and assure institutional compliance with all required policies;

Key functions, all of which are dependent upon the collection and analysis of substantive data, include:

•Designing, developing, and leading implementation of strategies that improve the academic programs and overall student experience at York College, in collaboration with the Deans of Academic Affairs, Academic Services, and Student Affairs;

•Providing guidance to the Director of Institutional Research, who will report to the Associate Dean, toward designing and implementing collection and strategic use of data that will assist the decision-making of senior administrators;

•Analyzing and communicating key data points to the academic community, making recommendations for action through regular presentations;

•Working with the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning and Director of Institutional Research to  create and deliver faculty development workshops that help faculty leaders formulate productive and useful student learning assessments—and move those assessments into action;

•Working with the Deans of Academic Affairs, Academic Services, and Enrollment Management to improve recruitment, retention, persistence, and student success;

•Contributing to long-range strategic planning at the College;

•Providing data and research for grant proposals in collaboration with the Advancement division;

•Partnering with the Dean of Academic Affairs in all functions of the division, and so completing other duties as assigned.

Key Skills, Characteristics, and Qualifications

•Doctorate strongly preferred; master’s degree with significant relevant experience will be considered;

•A proven record of academic leadership, strategic planning, and significant experience in academic assessment methods; classroom teaching experience is also highly valued;

•Strong communication skills (oral and written), and the ability to work collaboratively with both administration and faculty members;

•Understanding of, and experience with, Student Learning Outcomes assessment and its uses toward informing effective teaching and learning;

•Strong database management skills;

•The creativity and self-motivation to move the college toward continuous quality improvement;

Dean of Enrollment Management

 

Founded in 1787 as York Academy, York College of Pennsylvania is a private college located in south central Pennsylvania with an enrollment of approximately 4,700 undergraduate and 300 graduate students. Students are from more than 30 states and 35 countries and have access to over 50 undergraduate majors. Business administration, nursing, biology, education, and engineering are among the most popular programs. Master’s Degrees in nursing, business administration and education, and a Doctoral degree in nursing practice are also offered. The College has a long tradition of dedication to the intellectual, professional and social growth of its students. The Position The Dean of Enrollment Management is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the College’s strategic enrollment plan that ranges from entry to graduation. The Dean provides leadership in the development and coordination of the recruitment programs, undergraduate and graduate admissions, targeted financial aid, and retention programs as well as providing direction regarding specific types of marketing and recruitment materials. In close partnership with academic and administrative units and with broad awareness of current and impending market trends affecting recruitment and enrollment, the Dean will play an integral role in shaping each incoming class. The Dean of Enrollment Management serves as the chief enrollment officer of the College and as such reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Council and the President’s Senior Administrative Cabinet. This is a newly created position. Currently, the Associate Dean of Enrollment Management, the Enrollment Management Coordinator, and the Directors of admissions, financial aid, and enrollment communications report to the Dean of Enrollment Management.  

Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred.  At least ten years of experience in a progressive management role in admissions, enrollment management, financial aid, and/or marketing in higher education are also required. An understanding of best practices in enrollment marketing and data-driven decision making, and demonstrated success in an enrollment management role at an institution that is tuition-driven is expected. The Dean of Enrollment Management must be an organized, creative, collaborative, engaged, and energetic hands-on leader who will be expected to analyze complex financial information and statistical data and to have an understanding of net tuition revenue, strategic pricing, discounting, and financial aid leveraging. Evidence of superior oral, written, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with numerous internal and external partners, will be expected. Proven success recruiting and retaining a diverse student body and in working collaboratively across departments is also expected.

Intern Athletic Trainer

 

The Department of Athletics and Recreation is seeking an Intern Athletic Trainer, beginning August of 2014. This 9 month administrative position (approx. mid-August through mid-May) is directly responsible for assisting with the athletic health care of all York College student-athletes, the supervision of student sports medicine assistants, and in assisting the Head Athletic Trainer with all operations of the athletic training room.  A competitive hourly rate with room (fully furnished one-bedroom apartment) and board (full meal plan) are provided with the position.  Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from a CAATE curriculum institution, BOC Certification and eligible for Licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, CPR/FA/AED current certification. Email resume, cover letter, and three references (at least one from a clinical supervisor) to: employment@ycp.edu,  by May 1, 2014.
