Center for Teaching & Learning

The York College Center for Teaching and Learning takes a holistic approach to enhancing student learning. We work closely with faculty to provide integrated resources for curriculum design, teaching goals, and academic support programming. The CTL is committed to being a catalyst on campus where personal development and positive mentoring relationships foster academic success for YCP students.

The CTL supports student learning by collaborating with faculty to provide a variety of academic support services and instructional development resources to enhance teaching and learning at York College.

  • For students: tutoring, study groups, study skills assistance, and review sessions.
  • For faculty: instructional development programming workshops and resources.

CTL Goals:

  • To assist students in becoming more independent, self-confident, and efficient learners using a peer assistance/mentoring model
  • To promote student retention by offering academic support in an array of subject areas
  • To staff competent, knowledgeable peer and professionals
  • To maintain an academic space on campus where faculty and staff can refer students who are in need of academic assistance
  • To work collaboratively with other on-campus student services and academic offices to provide holistic, encompassing assistance
  • To support the well-being of all students by meeting their academic needs
  • To extend an opportunity for peer staff to connect to the college and to grow as leaders on campus and in their future professional lives
