Senior, Sport Management Major
Zach is a mother’s dream. Really. Good grades, dresses nicely for class, runs a photography business in his spare time. He’s also appreciative of the resources he’s been exposed to that will help him in the future. He says, "I was taught that at a young age you should take every opportunity you have because you never know where it may take you. York College has proven that to me." As a scholarship recipient, Zach has been event manager for numerous events, a Sports Information intern, and a Junior Golf intern for the Middle Atlantic Section of the PGA. Zach chose York College for the Sport Management major because he loves sports. He’ll graduate in May with a degree in a field he’s learned he loves for other reasons -- it’s fast paced, ever changing and allows him the opportunity to work with athletes of all levels. Most recently, Zach and fellow SIFE member, Kara Snyder, teamed up to win the first annual J.D. Brown Center of Entrepreneurship Elevator Pitch Contest. Their idea to start a junior golf tour for children with disabilities in the mid-Atlantic area won them $1,000 and office space in the J.D. Brown Center. Senior, Nursing Major
She’s the orientation leader that tells new students, "focus your time on studying" and really, truly means it. She uses her role as an Orientation Leader and Student Ambassador as a way to help new students become acquainted with their peers and convince potential students that this is the perfect place for them to spend the next 4 (or 5) years of their lives. She’s managed a 4.0 GPA in our grueling nursing program and was accepted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of nursing. After York College, she plans on being an operating room nurse and eventually a doctor. Rachel says York College helped her grow as a professional; her externships have allowed her to be more open minded and she’s gained insight on how to act professionally from professors she dubs as inspiring. Senior, Policitial Science Major
This guy can’t stop moving. Literally. You’re bound to find him on campus with his headphones on jamming out to the latest Kid Cudi CD. He’s a mover and a shaker on campus too. He likes the community feel of York College and the opportunity it lends for every student to make their mark. Even though he’s not a varsity athlete, he notes that places on campus like the Grumbacher Center help to build that sense of community. "It’s pretty cool that other schools want to come here to host tournaments. We take pride in that." He’s also a resident assistant, active with the intramurals programs and Vice President of the Senior Class. As a political science major, Ed has serious aspirations to be the US Ambassador to Nigeria. His time at York College has helped him realize it’s important to participate in worthwhile activities and progress for change; but it’s also important to keep your roots. If you’re looking for him on campus, there’s a good chance he’s indulging in his favorite food- grilled cheese at the dining hall. Senior, History Major
That kid that’s always wearing swim trunks on campus? That’s Brendan. And no, there’s no scientific reasoning behind it either; just that "they’re comfortable." If you haven’t noticed him, go to the Grumbacher, where he claims he would sleep if it was allowed. Brendan and his younger brother, Tim (also a YCP student), frequently go on brother dates to workout at the gym or play basketball. In the classroom, Brendan is a history major with a legal studies minor. He’s a huge fan of the small class sizes and says his professors helped him hone in on his interest in a business law career. He balances a 3.7 GPA with being secretary of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. The biggest lesson York College has taught him? "That I should be confident in the person that I am."
