Eleven YCP students spent two weeks in May, traveling throughout Kenya and Tanzania. The 28-member group also included faculty and alumni. They visited Nairobi University, a hospital and an orphanage. The trip was part of the Culture and Environmental Field Series course taught each summer by David Fyfe, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Geography.
In April, YCP became one of approximately 20 colleges in the nation to host a chapter of the Food Recovery Network (FRN). Eileen Reavey '13 (Frederick, MD) President of the York Environmental Society (YES) said each weekday morning during the semester, if there was any leftover food, student volunteers recorded information for the national chapter of FRN, gathered labeled containers from Johnson Dining Hall, and delivered them to the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry on East Market Street in York.
