New Construction

McKay Hall

Design drawings are complete for the construction of the nursing simulation labs in the former engineering space in McKay Hall. Construction will begin in Spring 2012. New construction will include space for the Department of Hospitality, Recreation and Sport Management. The project will be completed with an anticipated occupancy of Fall 2012.

Willman Business Center

Work on the Willman Business Center will begin in Summer 2012, with the facility expected to open in Fall 2013. The building will feature a new two-story graduate lobby with an outside entry leading to the auditorium and a NASDAQ Financial Literacy and Trading Laboratory. The building will triple the space available for the College's highly-regarded business administration program and provide a new home for the College's biggest department.

Social Media Mash-Up Page

York College recently launched a social media mash-up page that gives a real-time snapshot of all the institution has to offer. The page features Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, News Stories and blog feeds, along with a social media directory for campus accounts.

 

 

New Hospitality Management Major

The new hospitality management major will be led by John G. Hughes, who is currently associate director/professor of Fairleigh Dickinson University’s International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Hughes will begin serving as director of the Hospitality Management Program and associate professor of hospitality at York College on July 1.

Spring Commencement

U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) will deliver the address during York College’s commencement exercises at 10:15 a.m., May 12, on the campus mall.

The York College women’s track & field squad received fantastic news on Sunday as freshman Jasmine Smith officially qualified for long jump at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Claremont, Calif. Smith becomes the first Spartan women’s track & field student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA National Championships.

The York College wrestling program received outstanding news recently as the National Wrestling Coaches Association has announced that a pair of Spartans have earned induction into the NWCA National Division III Hall of Fame. Spartan head coach Tom Kessler and former All-American and current assistant coach Duane Bastress will enter the Hall of Fame together in March 2013.
