Nursing Facilities

Nursing Education Center - McKay Hall

Located at 890 Grantley Road, our new facility opened in August, 1999. The building houses the Critical Care Lab, Basic Nursing Lab, Home Health Lab, Communications Lab, Media Lab, Computer Lab, OB/Peds Classroom, Conference Room, 3 classrooms, Student Lounge, Nursing Department Office and 10 faculty offices.

 Nursing Laboratories

Our 4-bed critical care lab is equipped for practice of acute patient care scenarios.

The Home Health Lab is a senior citizen "studio" apartment. Students are able to role play home care situations and practice skills as they would be performed in the patient's home.

Nursing care skills can be learned in the eight bed patient care lab.

 Media Center

The Nursing Media Lab contains 5 stations for individual or small group viewing of videos. Students can check out equipment such as Blood Pressure cuffs, Community Health Nursing Bags, and Denver Development Kits.

 Computer Lab

The Computer Lab contains 34 workstations connected to the college network. Each student has an e-mail account, personal storage space on the campus network, access to the Internet, and web page space.

Nursing educational programs in pharmacology, communications, physical assessment, obstetrics, medical terminology, and management are available from computers in campus labs and dormitories.

 Classrooms

The Obstetrics/Pediatrics classroom contains models and equipment for practice of skills.

McKay Nursing Education Center contains four classrooms that each seat 24-36 students.

The Communications Lab pictured here is used for classes and labs in
Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.

 Equipment

Each of the 12 patient beds are fully equipped with otoscope, ophthalmoscope, sphygmomanometer, oxygen, suction, sharps disposal container, and bedside cart stocked with supplies.

A Space Labs patient monitor helps students to learn about cardiac rhythms and hemodynamics.

The Critical Care Lab is equipped with a monitor, defibrillator, ventilator, and infusion pumps. Here, a senior student places defibrillation paddles on a mannequin.

Students use models and simulators to practice physical assessment skills. This torso model has heart and lung sounds.
