    Wellness Centers

York College nursing students gain real-world experience while providing valuable health information and services to elderly and disabled residents in various Wellness Centers.

Health promotion and disease prevention services are provided free of charge through nurse managed wellness centers to economically disadvantaged and medically under-served residents of various housing complexes. In the wellness centers, senior level community health nursing students work under the supervision of York college nursing faculty to meet their community health nursing clinical practice requirements.

Services offered at the Wellness Centers:

    Blood pressure screening
    Medication teaching
    Health programs
Home visits for assessment and teaching
    Health teaching
    Monitoring of chronic health conditions
    Referral to community resources
    Prevention programs
    Health fairs
    Health assessments

The value of the Wellness Center services was highlighted in the York College of Pennsylvania "What Did You Learn Today?" public relations series. Listen to the Audio Clip (MP3 format)
