Music division plans gala concert as opening event in new CPAC

YORK, Pa. – York College of Pennsylvania’s Division of Music will celebrate the grand opening of the new Collegiate Performing Arts Center with a gala concert featuring faculty and guest artists. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 and is open to the public free of charge.

The concert program will include Francis Poulenc’s “Sextet,” with faculty members Kenneth Osowski, piano; Alicia Kosack, flute; Kirstin Gordon, oboe; Susan Loy, clarinet; Kimberly Buchar Kelley, bassoon; and guest artist Jennifer Lang, French horn. Baritone Randal Woodfield and pianist Lois Nielsen, both members of York’s faculty, will present “Soliloquy” from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel,” and Osowski will play Chopin’s “Ballade No. 1.”

A performance of “Liebeslieder Walzer” by Johannes Brahms and “Circus Band” by Charles Ives will feature vocal faculty members and guests, including Grace Muzzo, Shirah Layton, Nina Brown, Chris Waite, Michael Muzzo, Woodfield and James Valliant. The group will be accompanied by Gretchen Dekker-Elicker and Osowski. And the Jeff Stabley Jazz Quartet, featuring tenor saxophonist and guest artist Paul Carr, will round out the program.
