York College Students To Raise Walls In New Orleans
Posted February 12, 2008FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
YORK, Pa. - York College students will join fellow spring breakers from across the country participating in Habitat for Humanity's "Collegiate Challenge." More than 12,000 students have signed up to help build homes in 210 locations as part of this year's program.
During the week of Feb. 24, York College students will work alongside other volunteers and Habitat homeowners to build simple, decent and affordable Habitat for Humanity homes in New Orleans.
"The New Orleans area is still in severe devastation from Hurricane Katrina, and when we voted as a group, most people really wanted to help out with that project specifically," said Heather Mahalick, a member of York College Habitat for Humanity.
The group still needs to raise about $2,000 in order to be able to afford the trip.
For those interested in donating to the volunteer organization's trip, please call Heather Mahalick at 484-223-9673.
