FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YORK, Pa. - York College Galleries will present Visions of the Susquehanna: 250 years of Paintings by American Masters December 16 through February 20. There will be an opening reception from 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 16.

Curated by York County artist Rob Evans and comprised of nearly 40 paintings, the exhibition gathers two and a half centuries of art depicting the Susquehanna River from eighteenth century to present day. These paintings and watercolors depict the course of the river and its tributaries from Lake Otsego, New York, through Pennsylvania to the Chesapeake Bay at Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Accompanying this show will be a slide lecture by Evans held on Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. in Wolf Recital Hall. Evans will discuss his personal relationship to the Susquehanna and how it has affected his own painting, as well as his curatorial decisions behind the organization of the exhibition.
