FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YORK, Pa. - "Ethics and the Civic Life" will be the topic of Dr. Rory Kraft's discussion at York College, October 9, at 3:30 p.m., in the newly renovated Humanities Center Film Viewing Room.

Kraft, a YCP professor, will examine how we ought to live (in) a civic life, which concerns are most salient when it comes to ethically living, and in what ways ethics provides hope for a more civil civic life.

Another YCP professor, Dr. Deborah Vause, will discuss the current debate over an "official language" in her lecture titled "Language in American Civic Life: Past, Present and Future" on October 18, at 3:30 p.m., in the Humanities Center Film Viewing Room. Her presentation will examine specific moments in the history of American English that parallel the language concerns and conflicts of today, exploring how the study of language clarifies some of the confusion of civic life.
