YORK, Pa. - York College will kick off its Fall 2007 Humanities Lecture Series September 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the newly renovated Humanities Center Film Viewing Room. YCP Professor Dr. Dominic Delli Carpini will present "Coming Down from the Ivory Tower: Re-writing the Local Community in Writing Classes." Drawing upon his own and others' research in civic rhetoric, the presentation will discuss the ways that composition research and courses nationally have continued these civic traditions of rhetoric and demonstrate ways that students have become more engaged in civic affairs.
The Humanities Lecture Series will continue September 27 at 3:30 p.m. in the Humanities Center Film Viewing Room. YCP Professor Dr. Victor Taylor will present "The Rhetoric of Belief." The presentation will examine the history of the contest between "knowledge" and "belief" in the humanities.
