Darrell Henry fancies himself an artist. A microphone, a stat sheet and a press box serve as his pallet. He wants you to be able to see what he sees, smell what he smells and hear what he hears. It's a delicate craft, and the great ones create memories.
His primary focus coming out of high school was to make the varsity baseball team at college. When that didn't work out, he explored an opportunity at the college's radio station. He soon found himself performing play-by-play for the college basketball, baseball and softball teams. He parlayed that experience into a regular gig with ESPN Radio.
Early in his college career, Darrell questioned whether he needed to be at a college that had a reputation for broadcasting. He quickly learned that at a larger university, he wouldn't have gotten on the air right away, nor had the opportunities he had at York College.
Now, you can listen to Darrell do the play-by-play for the York Revolution.
