Poetry Reading At York College

YORK, Pa. – Award winning poet and memoirist Mary Karr will speak on the campus of York College February 8 at 7 p.m. in the Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall, Recital Hall.
Karr, whose poetry grants include The Whiting Writer’s Award, will read poetry from her four volumes: Sinners Welcome, Viper Rum, The Devil’s Tour and Abacus.
Karr’s first memoir, The Liars’ Club, won the PEN Martha Albrand Award for best first nonfiction and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. It was also on The New York Times bestseller list for more than a year and a “best book” for more than thirty newspapers and magazines. The sequel, Cherry, was also a bestseller for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Houston Chronicle.
Karr is the Jesse Truesdell Peck Professor of Literature at Syracuse University. Her books will be available for purchase before and after her reading. For more information, please call 815-1349.
