2007 PENNSYLVANIA INTERCOLLEGIATE CHORAL FESTIVAL

YORK, Pa. – The 2007 Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Choral Festival will take place at York College from Feb.1-3. Collegiate singers from across the state will gather to rehearse and perform under the direction of Vijay Singh. A member of the music faculty at Central Washington University, Professor Singh is a highly regarded conductor, arranger and specialist in vocal jazz. After two days of rehearsal, the Choral Festival will conclude with a concert on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1:30 in the Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall, Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
79 singers from 10 Pennsylvania colleges and universities will represent both large and small choral programs from both state and private institutions. These singers are selected by their directors and must also audition at the festival before rehearsals begin. The collegiate singers are accompanied by their directors, who participate in Collegiate Choral Association meetings, reading sessions and a Director’s Dinner.
The repertoire for 2007 includes works by Palestrina, Bardos, Schumann, Mozart, Offenbach and Vijay Singh. This year’s host is Dr. Grace Muzzo, Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at York College. Please contact Dr. Muzzo at 815-6450 for more information.
