WHAT DID YOU LEARN TODAY?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Rodney Stump remembers what is was like to be a college student. Many times you acquire what some call “book knowledge,” but you still can’t distinguish between a marketing plan and a cafeteria plan.

That’s why, as Department Chairman for marketing and E-business at Towson State, Dr. Stump wraps his courses around real-world projects.

He gets jazzed when he sees the light bulb go on, when a student not only appreciates a concept, but understands how it’s being applied. He believes that a student has to experience it to understand it.

He and his students regularly conduct projects for local organizations like Meals on Wheels, the local National Public Radio affiliate, the Army ROTC and the National Aquarium. Dr. Stump and his students were recently hired AFTER an organization became disenchanted with the professional firm it had hired.

We’re pretty certain that Dr. Stump isn’t grumbling about the projects his York College professors got him involved with.
