FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YORK, Pa.Butterfly (La Lengua De Las Mariposas, 1999), a film by José Luis Cuerda set in rural Spain in 1936, will be shown Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in DeMeester Theater on the YCP campus. Dr. Cindy Doutrich, a professor of Spanish at YCP, will introduce the film and lead a question-and-answer session after the screening.

Butterfly tells the story of a young schoolboy and the special bond he forms with his teacher, who takes the boy under his wing and teaches him to appreciate literature and nature. The boy’s idyllic education is interrupted, however, by the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, which teaches him real-life lessons about political persecution, discrimination, religious hysteria and the terror of war.

The film is free and open to the public. For more information call 815-1349.
