York College Offering Personal Protection Classes

YORK, Pa. – The Special Programs Office at York College of Pennsylvania is offering a series of classes on Personal Protection. Classes are two hours in length and run from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Saturday, March 11, “A.S.S.A.U.L.T.” will be offered. “A.S.S.A.U.L.T.” instructs participants on how to avoid mugging, carjacking and robbery.
Saturday, March 25, “Rape & Assault Prevention” will cover rape and assault awareness and prevention. The class also includes self-defense techniques and post-incident response procedures.
The classes will be taught by Chris Hertig, a professor of Behavioral Sciences at YCP. Hertig is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with extensive Defensive Tactics instructional experience.
Due to the nature of these classes, enrollment is limited. Advance registration is required. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and flat-soled shoes are recommended.
The registration fee is $20 per person, per class with a $5 discount given to York College students and alumni. To register, call the Special Programs Office at 815-1451 or e-mail special-programs@ycp.edu.
