Evelyn Powell loves a subject that makes most of us cringe, as if someone screeched her fingernails across the chalkboard. She loves business statistics.
Working as an intern with Tighe Industries, Evelyn was asked to analyze the company’s catalog from the previous year to determine how to increase the company’s profit margin. Tighe is a leading manufacturer of gymnastics, dance and cheerleading clothing, and developed the costumes worn by the USA Olympic gymnastics team. She was able to combine her statistical analysis with her growing knowledge of the computer software “MiniTab” to develop a solution. MiniTab is a software program that not many people have mastered.
Forecasts within ten percent are considered good by industry standards. Evelyn’s forecast was within three percent.
Evelyn is excited to be taking her skills to her new job with Boeing, the world’s leading aerospace company and the largest combined manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft.
