"FRANCE DIVIDED" DOCUMENTARY TO BE SHOWN; DISCUSSION LED BY AUTHOR, DIRECTOR
The second installment in the Humanities Film Series at York College debuts Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. in DeMeester Theater. “France Divided,” written, produced and directed by Eileen M. Angelini, Ph.D., is a documentary that analyzes the social rifts in 1940s France caused by the Holocaust and the trauma of World War II. Dr. Angelini will be on hand to introduce the film and lead a discussion about it afterward.
“France Divided,” co-authored and directed by Barbara P. Barnett, explores the two sides of France, as both collaborators and resisters are seen through the eyes of seven French people: a Holocaust survivor, three hidden children, two historians and the leader of the French Resistance, Lucie Aubrac. Each individual presents a very different account of the times by virtue of his or her personal experiences.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the department of English and Humanities at (717) 815-1349.
