George Theofiles - “A Compact History of the American Poster”

York, Pa. - “A Compact History of the American Poster,” slide lecture will be presented by poster and graphic design expert George Theofiles, on Thursday, October 27, at 7 p.m., in the MAC Recital Hall at York College of Pennsylvania. Theofiles’ lecture will cover the history of the American poster from the eighteenth century origins up to contemporary times and will include discussion of advertising, patriotic propaganda, and the celebrity and film poster.

Theofiles received his BFA in Graphic Design from The Maryland Institute College of Art and operates a nationally-recognized business in New Freedom, PA, which specializes in rare and original posters and vintage graphics. He has written several articles on poster history and also authored a book dedicated to WWI posters.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
