Two racing teams represented York College at the Mini Baja Midwest competition
Posted June 22, 2005FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In its fourth year of competition and the first year with multiple entries, Team Mini Baja represented York College well during the Mini Baja Midwest competition in Troy, Ohio, on June 16-19. YCP Racing 1 continued with the success of last year's design, placing 19th of 142 teams from respectable and notable schools, as well as 11th in the sled pull competition. YCP Racing 2 and its new suspension system also posted a good showing by finishing 44th overall, 4th in the sled pull, and 9th with their written design report.
Faculty advisor and Coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering Program, Dr. Tim Garrison, is pleased with his students and their cars' performance at Aztalan Speedway . "If you look at the results you will see we beat many 'big name' schools," he said. "Given that our students have only 6 months to build their car while others take 10 months or more, our students' performance was outstanding."
