FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The York College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team achieved champion status on April 13 during the 2005 SIFE USA Regional Competition in Washington, D.C. This second-year student professional organization has built on its "Second Runner-Up" and "Rookie-of-the-Year" regional awards and national "Rookie-of-the-Year" award from last year's competition, proving they are committed to learning about the free enterprise system in real working situations while using their knowledge to better their community.

Erika Daniels, SIFE president and team leader, Jennifer Dedig, Kathleen Krista, Stephanie Kropkowski, and Brandon McAllister made an impression among the other universities in their league of competition with five community projects: Exchange City Collaboration-Education, a curriculum development project for Exchange City at the high school and college levels for Junior Achievement of Southern Pennsylvania; Set the Record Straight Campaign, an external nonprofit marketing campaign for York Habitat for Humanity; The York Jewish Community Center Snack Bar Project, a venture planning project; Teen Violence Public Service Announcement, a community awareness campaign for the Hanover YWCA; and Financial Literacy Seminar, a financial educational seminar for which the team received a grant from SIFE International to develop.

The YCP SIFE team will make final presentations to the Business Administration Department and the leadership of their sponsor, Graham Packaging Corporation, in preparation for the 2005 SIFE USA National Exposition in Kansas City, Kan., on May 22-24.
