Candlelight Concert features the York College Piano Trio

York College presents a Candlelight Concert featuring the York College Piano Trio on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. in the Music, Art and Communication Center Recital Hall. The York College Piano Trio - Kenneth Osowski, piano, Melvin Baer, violin, and Rachel Kauffman, cello - features some of the College's finest professional artist faculty and most talented musicians in the area. Organized in 2002, the trio has performed classical pieces in various venues on and off campus.

About Kenneth Osowski, piano
Osowski, a candidate for the Doctor of Music Arts degree in piano performance at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, performs widely throughout the East Coast and has received numerous awards for his outstanding piano playing. An avid chamber musician, Osowski has spent his last four summers at the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival in Putney, Vt. He has been a member of the York College piano faculty since the fall of 2001.

About Melvin Baer, violin
Baer holds a bachelor's degree in violin and viola from the Indiana University School of Music and has had a long and distinguished career as a solo and orchestra musician, spending 20 years as first violinist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in Dallas, Texas. He has performed and conducted extensively in Texas, Indiana, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. Baer has been a member of the York College music faculty since 2002, teaching music theory and applied violin and piano, and also conducts the York College Symphony Orchestra.

About Rachel Kauffman, cello
Kauffman holds a master's degree in cello from Duquesne University and has performed extensively throughout the East Coast in addition to 19-year career as a cellist with the Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra. Kauffmann resides in Dover, Pa..,  where she maintains a large teaching studio of cello students. She has taught applied cello as part of the music faculty since 2002.
