Winter Commencement 2004

More than 300 students will receive their diplomas from York College of Pennsylvania during the winter commencement ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. in Wolf Gymnasium A.
Dr. Michael X. Delli Carpini, Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Annenberg School for Communication, will present the commencement address. As a noted scholar of American politics and political communications, award-winning teaching professor and leading academic administrator, Dr. Delli Carpini has focused on politics and communications related to the political process. His research and publications have explored the role of the citizen in American politics, with particular emphasis on the impact of mass media on public opinion and political participation. He is the author of Stability and Change in American Politics and What Americans Know about Politics and Why It Matters, as well as numerous articles, essays, and edited volumes. Dr. Delli Carpini has also been an expert commentator on political topics for CNN, ABC World News, The New York Times, and USA Today. His current research and commentary interests include media politics and civic engagement.
Dr. Delli Carpini has served as a faculty member at Rutgers University, Barnard College, and Columbia University. From 1999 to 2003, he directed the public policy program of The Pew Charitable Trusts. In 2003, he accepted appointment as Dean of the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Delli Carpini earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science from the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a doctorate in political science from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. David S. Greisler, assistant professor of business administration, will serve as the faculty speaker during the commencement ceremony. Prior to joining York College in 2002, where he teaches operations management and business policy courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, Dr. Greisler held multiple administrative positions at Wellspan Health, including chief operating officer. Dr. Greisler has contributed to the operations management mentoring network involving York College business students and major manufacturing and service organizations in the region. Dr. Greisler has also presented at numerous conferences and authored numerous articles and essays, as well as being co-author of The Handbook of Information Technology in Public Management, a text being published in the summer of 2005.
