Posted October 22, 2004
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York College has expanded on its traditional Candlelight Concert Series by exploring the creative connection found in several of the fine arts - music, art and poetry. On Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. in the Music, Art and Communication Center Recital Hall, the poetry and art of Alvaro Cardona-Hine and Barbara McCauley will accent the performance of Cardona-Hine's song cycle on the poems by Irish poet, J.M. Synge, entitled "Where Nets Are Laid."

Cardona-Hine and McCauley will present their poetry and art, while performing artist faculty members of the York College Division of Music will perform four songs of Cardona-Hine's collection. Performing artist faculty members include Dr. Frederick Schreiner, tenor; Linda Anderson-Baer, soprano; Alicia Kosack, flute; Susan Loy, clarinet; Melvin Baer, violin and harpsichord; Rachael Kauffman, cello; and Kenneth Osowski, piano.

Symposium on music, art and poetry
In addition, Cardona-Hine and McCauley will lead a symposium on music, art and poetry prior to the concert on Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. in the Music, Art and Communication Center Recital Hall. The symposium will describe the connection between music, art and poetry and discuss the creative process.
