York Students to Solve International Issues
Posted March 31, 2004FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania -- India and Pakistan are arguing. So are China and Taiwan. Fortunately, this is only a simulation. The annual National Model United Nations Conference takes place in New York City, April 6-10. Thousands of college students throughout the world participate in the event.
York College of Pennsylvania will be represented by 16 members of the Model U.N. club, according to John Duchak, head delegate for the group. It's actually a one-credit class in the History and Political Science curriculum, taught by York College President George Waldner. Duchak says, "Each college is assigned a country to learn about and to represent on various issues. We will be representing the Kingdom of Jordan." The event is billed as the world's largest college level simulation of the United Nations.
