YCP HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HELPS BUILD HOMES IN MIAMI
Posted February 20, 2004FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania -- What better to do than help the needy on spring break? Well, twenty-five students from the York College Habitat for Humanity Chapter feel traveling to Miami is not only a tanning opportunity, but a great way to partake in a national community event. For seven years, the members of YCP Habitat have taken part in what is known as “Collegiate Challenge” in many different locations around the country. This year, the group is traveling to Miami, Florida to help build homes for needy families in the area with at least three other colleges. Students will be working from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. everyday for one week. The York College crew will be leaving for Miami on the first day of spring break, February 28.
In order to travel to Miami and participate in such an event, the students of Habitat for Humanity plan to fundraise by offering a 50/50 raffle as well as running an activity, known as “Jail or Bail.” Habitat for Humanity is also accepting donations from the local community and York College students.
Anyone interested in helping to sponsor this trip or for more information, please contact the Public Relations Office of York College at 717-815-1309.
