29 SCHOOLS IN 29 DAYS
York, Pennsylvania -- As part of Black History Month, the Governor's Advisory Commission on African-American Affairs will be touring the state in February discussing various pertinent issues. The initiative is entitled "29 Schools in 29 Days," and will be coming to York College of Pennsylvania on February 11. Topics to be covered include: protecting black heritage, voter registration, AIDS awareness, peer mentoring, and community involvement.
According to Adrienne McNeil, Director of Multicultural Affairs and Community Outreach at York College, the event is an open forum for college and high school students to learn about black history and educational programs available in the state to encourage African-American youth. As an added bonus, the event at YCP will also feature some members of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The program, which is open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Wolf Gym-A. For more information call Ms. McNeil at (717) 815-1916.
