FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania--The College Board released the most current data on 1998-99 tuition and fees. York College of Pennsylvania stands alone with only a 3.1% tuition increase compared to the average 5% for all private colleges.

According to the College Board the 1998-99 average cost of a Middle State four-year private college is $15,381. YCP's average tuition cost is $5,980 an increase of only $180. The College Board did not have the average cost according to states, however they were calculated by college regions

Dr. George Waldner, President of York College, was a member of the National Commission on the Cost of Higher Education established to study rising tuition rates and recommend solutions to the problem. Dr. Waldner was the only representative from Pennsylvania and one of only three college presidents on the Commission.

Dr. Waldner finds "it relatively easy to offer a college education at an inexpensive cost," if you follow the "York College Secret." The foundation of this successful formula is cemented by four principles: absence of institutional debt, scholarship endowment sufficient to fund institutionally-sourced scholarships and financial aid, limitation of administrative overhead and faculty members who teach a full schedule each semester.
