Mail Conference a Success

York, Pennsylvania--The Middle Atlantic Region of College and University Mail Services (MARCUMS) conducted its first organizational meeting on October 19 and 20 at York College of Pennsylvania. This is a regional association of mail services personnel from colleges and universities within the MidAtlantic geographical area. The organization was introduced at the conclusion of the Association of College and University Mail Services (ACUMS) Annual Fall Conference.
MARCUMS was implemented a year ago by Randy Rice, Mail Service Manager at York College. This concept was formulated because of the progression of other regional organizations across the United States. He felt it was necessary to establish an association for the MidAtlantic region to create better efficiency and more productive networking.
MARCUMS goals are to advance the professionalism of its members in postal management, promote education for its members, and to provide a forum relating to change, product, techniques and technical innovations. Currently there are 45 colleges and universities represented in MARCUMS. Their motto is "Success Through Teamwork."
