FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania--Jean Wyld, Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Biology at York College of Pennsylvania, was appointed as the new chair of the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS). AIBS is a non-profit scientific organization to advance research and education in the biological, medical, environmental, and agricultural sciences. AIBS remains the sole national umbrella society uniting biologists across the country.

Wyld received her PhD in systematic and evolutionary biology from the University of Connecticut and later spent a year as an American Council on Education fellow in the office of the Executive Vice President at Boston College.

In September 1998, Wyld presented the paper "Improving Course Embedded Student Research" at the Lilly conference on College and University Teaching. She says, "It is my hope that the Education Committee of AIBS can help K-12 teachers, and college and university faculty, gain access to this type of work, and see that they receive recognition for their own creative efforts in the classroom."
