York College Students Are Giving the True Gift of Christmas
Posted December 8, 1998FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
York, Pennsylvania--Two students at York College are sharing the true spirit of Christmas with the York community this year. They developed an idea to help make Christmas better for some underprivileged children in the York area. Their plan was a success!! On Thursday, December 17 in YCP's Buechel Lounge at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., those children will be partaking in a Christmas party with gifts, games and food.
The York College students, Eric Verstraete and Dan Sutherland, teamed up with Access York for a project called "The Christmas Gift Tree".
Access York supplied a list of over 60 children who were in need of some assistance and whose family could not afford to give them gifts this year. After Eric and Dan received the names, they distributed announcements through various types of publicity, that there were children in need of adoption for the holidays. With overwhelming success, all the children have been adopted and will be attending a Christmas party at York College.
They will receive the gifts from their sponsors at the party and an opportunity to be photographed with Santa Claus(York College's Dean Mussano). There will also be food, refreshments, games, and activities for the children.
