York College Student Accepted as FBI Honorary Intern

York, Pennsylvania--York College of Pennsylvania junior, Rebecca Yurko, applied for the competitive FBI Honors Internship Program, and was accepted. Rebecca is from Wilkes-Barre, PA, and is majoring in accounting with academic minors in criminal investigation and German.

Rebecca learned of the internship through the internet. She then followed through the application process and included with her credentials a letter of recommendation from Colonel Paul Evanko, Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police, and a 1974 graduate of York College. Rebecca met Commissioner Evanko during her summer of 1998 internship with the Pennsylvania State Police. During that intership, Rebecca worked 12 weeks with the Pennsylvania State Police Research and Development Department inm Harrisburg,a nd received the Department's Internship Award for 1998.

Rebecca was selected for the Philadelphia Division of the FBI. She has undergone a complete background investigation, a polygraph examination, and a one hour personal interview with the Bureau in Philadelphia. Rebecca aspires to become a special agent with the FBI, and this internship will be very beneficial in the pursuit of her professional goals.

The FBI Honors Internship Program in Washington, D.C., is an opportunity for 100 outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to explore the many career opportunities within the Bureau. Those students selected spend the summer working side-by-side with Special Agents and professional support personnel on important cases and procedures. Interns are assigned to an FBI Headquarters division, and the needs of the FBI. The FBI Honors Internship Program is a paid internship program.
