York, Pennsylvania--The Kids' Inquiry Conference will take place on Thursday, May 27, 1999, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at York College of Pennsylvania. The primary emphasis is for the children to share their own science research projects with other children. The program is designed to be as close to a scientific conference as possible. The keynote speaker will be a special guest from the Baltimore Aquarium.
Fourth and fifth grade classes from three Baltimore elementary schools will participate in this conference. At the conference they will have science-related tours for the students, hands-on activities for and by participating students, and presentation sessions for students to share their own research projects.
York College education students will serve as moderators. Each presentation session is assigned a moderator to introduce presenters and keep the flow of conversation active. Welcoming comments will be made by Dr. Lindy Harrison, a Professor of Chemistry at York College.
