York College to Hold Forum on Effective Regional Policing

York, Pennsylvania--From boardrooms to township meetings, communities across the mid-state have been wrestling with the issue of regionalizing police forces for the past few years.
The York College-York Federal Institute for Regional Affairs will host a public forum on Effective Policing in the 21st Century on Tuesday, January 18 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Music, Art and Communication building on campus.
During the forum, issues such as technology, personnel, training, professional development, inter-governmental cooperation, and data management will be addressed. Various law enforcement officials, academicians, municipal officers and regional and local politicians will present eight different moderated discussions, all focused upon the idea of regional police forces.
The goal of the forum is to stimulate discussion and promote the development of innovative approaches that will enable police departments to effectively engage in crime prevention and apprehension.
York Mayor Charles Robertson, District Attorney Stan Rebert, representatives from the State Police, Municipal Police Officers Education Training Commission, municipal authorities from Cumberland, Lancaster and York counties, as well as law enforcement officials from Harrisburg, York and Lancaster will provide insight for the various panel discussions.

A registration fee of $35.00 is required prior to January 10, while the fee increases to $45.00 between the 10th and 17th. Walk-ins will be charged $50.00. All registrants can attend dinner at 6:00.
