Senator Specter Learns of Higher Education Concerns
York, Pennsylvania--Dr. George Waldner, President of York College of Pennsylvania, will host a reception for South Central Pennsylvania higher education leaders and Senator Arlen Specter. The reception will take place on Tuesday, August 10, 1999 at 8:30 a.m. at 101 North Front Street in Harrisburg.
Senator Specter plays a pivotal role in the higher education legislation. Due to the impact of spending caps in the 1997 Balanced Budget Act, sustaining Federal funding for the various financial programs appears to be in some jeopardy this year. At the reception, Senator Specter will have an opportunity to learn of the concerns of some of his home state higher education constituents. The conference attendees will ask Senator Specter to appropriate more federal money for Student Aid in the coming budget.
There are many private colleges doing a lot with a little, so it is no coincidence Dr. Waldner was asked to host this conference.
