York, Pennsylvania--For the sixth consecutive year, York College of Pennsylvania has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top values among regional liberal arts colleges in the North.

In the "America's Best Colleges" issue (August 30, 1999), York was ranked ninth among institutions regarded as top values. Additionally, York was ranked 15th overall among the Best Regional Schools (Liberal Arts Colleges) in the North. For the first time, York College was included in the ranking of individual colleges in the top tier group.

As before, only the top 25 percent of all regional liberal arts colleges, in terms of academic quality, were considered for this distinction. York's high quality score was based on several indicators, including: academic reputation among higher educators, retention of students, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving, and graduation rate.

“York College has demonstrated through numerous external evaluation procedures and over a number of years that it ranks among the very best colleges of its type in the country in purely qualitative terms,” said York College President George W. Waldner. “What is astounding is that York College charges less than any of the other high ranking independent institutions. The result is a combination of high quality and moderate cost that spells outstanding value.”
