FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania--Members of York College of Pennsylvania's Phi Sigma Sigma sorority will be rocking away at the West Manchester Mall to raise money for the National Kidney Foundation.

Last year's “Rock-A-Thon” raised $1,400 for the Foundation. As the group prepares to take out its rocking chairs for this year's event, it hopes to “rock in” even more money this time around. The students will be on their rockers during regular mall hours beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 3, and ending at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 5. The sorority members will be collecting donations in the mall as they rock.

According to the National Kidney Foundation, about 20 million Americans are affected by kidney and urologic diseases, and millions more are at risk. The Kidney Foundation's York chapter says that more than 200 patients are now being treated at York County's three dialysis centers.

Each year Phi Sigma Sigma chapters across the United States and Canada hold a Rock-A-Thon to raise money for the Kidney Foundation. The international organization encourages the advancement of each member's character through sisterhood, scholarship, and service. Among other projects, York College's Phi Sigma Sigma sorority also hosts a Halloween party for the elderly and sponsors York Hospital's biannual blood drive at York College.
