FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

York, Pennsylvania--In just one month, York College and its students raised more than $4,300 for the National Kidney Foundation. Most of the money will be used to help local kidney patients.

The women' basketball 13th annual Lady Spartan Classic in November and the men's basketball 16th annual White Rose City Classic in December raised more than $3,100 for the National Kidney Foundation's York chapter. All ticket proceeds from the two tournaments will help patients being treated at York County's three dialysis centers.

A portion of the money will be used to buy medical alert bracelets for patients. The rest will go towards an emergency fund that helps pay patients' transportation costs, outstanding bills and other medical related expenses.

In early December, the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority took in more than $1,200 for the National Kidney Foundation during its annual “Rock-A-Thon” at the West Manchester Mall. The money will primarily be used to fund national research projects.

In April, York College's Volleyball Marathon will also be raising money for the National Kidney Foundation.
